Breakdown is a Cry of Fear mod that reimagines the story and core ideas of the original game.

You play as Matt Doyle, a 17-year-old boy who has struggled with depression his entire life. In recent months, things have taken a turn for the worse. One night, he remembers falling asleep... dreaming of a hospital... then suddenly waking up in an abandoned house—far from home, with fresh cuts on his arms that weren’t there before.

Now lost in his hometown of Antrim, Matt must fight through nightmarish manifestations of his mind while trying to help the people around him—some of whom may not be what they seem. Every step forward peels back more of Matt’s pain, memories, and trauma.

All of this... just to get back home.

Can he make it? Can he even try?
